2025 Subaru Forester vs. 2025 Chevrolet Equinox

Having trouble deciding which compact SUV to buy? Casey Subaru is here to help you out. Check out this comparison of two popular models – the 2025 Subaru Forester and 2025 Chevrolet Equinox – to see which one has the qualities you’re looking for.
Off-Road Ability
Subaru vehicles have always had a rugged reputation, and the 2025 Subaru Forester will enable you to explore many unpaved areas. Every model has all-wheel drive. Ground clearance is 8.7 inches for most trims, with the Wilderness trim adding an extra half inch. The latter also offers enhanced suspension tuning, all-terrain tires, upgraded skid plates, and revised front and rear bumpers for better approach and departure angles.
The off-road ability of the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox isn’t nearly as impressive. All-wheel drive is standard only on the top trim, and the system isn’t quite as capable. Furthermore, the Equinox only has 7.6 inches of ground clearance.
Fuel Efficiency
Along with their off-road ability, Subaru vehicles are known for their excellent gas mileage. The 2025 Subaru Forester gets an EPA-estimated 26 MPG in the city and 33 MPG on the highway. The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox doesn’t fare as well. While it also gets 26 MPG in the city, the highway number is just 31 MPG.
Cabin Space
The 2025 Subaru Forester has a big interior that accommodates five people in two roomy rows. Cargo space is immense, as it offers 29.6 cubic feet behind the 60/40-split-folding rear seats and 74.4 cubic feet when they are folded. The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox also fits five passengers, but it doesn’t provide nearly as much space for cargo: 29.8 cubic feet behind the back row and 63.5 cubic feet when it is down.
