Subaru Loves To Help

On Saturday January 27, 2024 Casey Subaru staff went to deliver shoes, socks, and coats to Four Oaks Day Shelter for Operation Warm. It gives us so much joy to be able to help the community with the help of Subaru. We have created such a good relationship with our friends at Four Oaks Day Shelter that we are willing to help them at any time of the year! Subaru has given us so many opportunities to help our communities and we are thankful!

Four Oaks Bike Donation

On July 24th 2023, Casey Subaru donated a bike, sleeping bags, socks, blankets, backpacks, drawstring bags, and more to the Four Oaks Day Service and Training center. The Four Oaks Day Service and Training Center helps transition people out of homelessness into employment and stable housing. The organization has a “Bike Back to Work” program that is a great incentive for our homeless clients to gain employment. The brand new bike Casey Subaru donated will be a great addition to this program and help many of the Four Oaks clients! Additionally, Casey Subaru gave a lending hand in February 2023 by sending some of their technicians to help fix some of the bikes that the community donated to The Four Oaks Day Service and Training center. This act of service provided the Four Oaks homeless clients working and usable bikes to travel to employment!

HERITAGE HUMANE SOCIETY- Subaru Loves Pets

Casey Subaru was a proud sponsor to the Heritage Humane Society “Paws in The Air” benefit in September 2023. What an amazing start to our Subaru Loves Pets month! Casey Subaru had a fantastic time at the event, where we had the pleasure of giving away Subaru of America dog gifts and Casey Subaru merchandise. It was heartwarming to see the joy on our furry friends face with their new “Chewbaru”! All proceeds from this event benefitted the McDuff Endowment Fund which provides a safety net for the medical needs of homeless pets at HHS.

Subaru Loves Learning Luncheon

Casey Subaru donated $12,500 to Saunders Elementary to provide needed school supplies for their students for this upcoming school year. This monetary contribution represents Casey Subaru’s commitment to Subaru Loves Learning and Saunders Elementary. Casey Subaru held an incredible luncheon for the teachers and staff at Saunders Elementary as a huge thank you for their commitment to creating a safe and supportive learning environment for the kids of our community.

Wednesday’s Adventures

Our Canine Companion’s Puppy in Training, named Wednesday IV, must wonder sometimes “Where are we off to today, Mom?” My job as a Canine Companions Volunteer Puppy Raiser is to teach her basic skils and socialize her in the community. That means she goes with me just about everywhere! Last month, in May 2023, Wednesday and I visited Casey Subaru in Newport News, VA. Our mission was two-fold, to check out the new Ascent model (gotta see all the safety features and the ease of jumping in!) AND to talk to the Casey Team about the “Luke Day - Gone to the Dogs” Fundraiser. (asking if Casey Subaru would be interested in being a Sponsor to the event being hosted by NextHome Coast to Country, benefitting the Canine Companions organization.) The Ascent met all of Wednesday’s expectations - being part of a 3 generation family (Puppy Raising grandparents, very busy on the go parents and grandkids who love dogs!) it needed to accommodate car seats, kennels, coolers, tents, geraniums and be a safe ride! Mikaela introduced us to a very nice sales staff member who treated us to a full demonstration of the car! It received Wednesday’s vote! (And mine!) Part two of Wednesday’s visit was to share her Canine Companions story. From birth, this special puppy is part of the largest Service Dog organization in the USA. ( www.canine.org ) Canine Companions places highly skilled, trained Service Dogs with adults, children and Veterans with disabilities - at no charge to the recipient. It takes a lot of volunteer hours and substantial donations to the Organization to bring healthy puppies from birth, through training, to matching with a recipient and to support the Service DogTeams through their years together. Casey Subaru, and Casey Auto Group, rose to the opportunity to support the local event, “Luke Day”. AND they have asked to continue to support puppies like Wednesday IV, to enable people with disabilities to have greater independence with the help of Canine Companion Service Dogs. We can’t express how much this means to the local volunteers with Canine Companions and all the Next Home Coast to Country Real Estate folks who planned “Luke Day”. Good job, Casey Subaru! And thank you to Sherry Grant and Casey Auto Group for the kind response!

GONE TO THE DOGS!

Puppy Love! That's how the life of a Canine Companion's Service Dog begins. From there it grows exponentially! NextHome Coast to Country Real Estate, organized a fundraising event, GONE TO THE DOGS, to benefit Canine Companions, the NextHome Corporate’s charity of choice and our way to celebrate Luke Day, (our mascot’s birthday) June 15. Canine Companions (https://www.canine.org) is a non-profit organization which provides highly trained Service Dogs to adults, children and Veterans with physical and/or intellectual disabilities. The Canine Companion puppies are raised by volunteers until they are about 16 months old. Professional trainers continue the training until the puppy is matched with a human partner at about 2 years of age. Throughout the lifetime of the Service Dog, Canine Companions continues to support and provide additional training when needed. All of this is done at no cost to the recipient. This makes donations and fundraising extremely important. We were fortunate to work with many volunteers from the Old Dominion Volunteer Chapter of Canine Companions in Virginia. They provided speakers and puppies for us to pet. In addition, I would like to thank Brent and Becky’s Daffodil Farm for the venue, Pet Zone, Water Pro Inc, Casey Subaru, Williams Landscape and Design, Chesapeake Bank, Parkway Printing and Shore Bites for their support. And the love continues.

Pet Adoption- LJ

Casey Subaru had a very successful pet adoption event with the Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter! 93.7 BOBFM did an amazing job helping us, and we had pet starter kits for everyone who adopted a new friend. We were able to help 20 dogs and cats find their furever homes. Thank you to everyone who came out!

Donation Celebration and Staff Appreciation- Laura Johnston

Casey Subaru celebrated the large donation of over $150,000 in direct benefits to PRAS accumulated over the last five years of partnership between Casey Subaru and Subaru of America and the Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter. Casey Subaru wanted to celebrate the PRAS staff for all of their hard work and the help they do for the animals. The check amount donated that day was for $32,000 that Casey Subaru and Subaru of America allocated in funds for the Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter during the Subaru Share the Love® Event. The speeches included the Roger, the Animal shelter director, Travis, the Casey Subaru general manager, and Mr. Casey, the Casey Auto Group president. They talked about how the donation money was used to help animals that are in need of extra care before they can be considered for adoption and placed towards a better life. The mayor also discussed how PRAS is a huge part of the Newport News community and how he and Casey Subaru is grateful for everything the Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter does. Nosh food truck made delicious food, Jeff's flowers provided wonderful flower arrangements, and there was a beautiful candy station in addition to decorative Subaru and PRAS cookies. Mr. Casey, the Mayor and vice Mayor of Newport News, other city council members, Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter staff including Roger, Casey Subaru staff including Travis Wynn, Casey auto marketing staff, Radio and TV personnel attended the event to celebrate the amazing donation and staff.

Toys for Tots

With the help of our customers and employees, we were able to fill the back of an Outback (seats folded down!) with tons of toys to donate to Hampton Roads Toys for Tots! Even more toys were donated after this photo was taken. During the month of November we were also accepting monetary donations in our service drive. We thank everyone who took the time out of their day to stop by and donate to this amazing cause!

Subaru Pet Photo Contest

Subaru recently hosted a pet photo contest nationally, so Casey Subaru decided to go one step further. For all of the entries we received for this contest, we decided to choose our own winner as well. This winner won $500 for themselves as well as a $500 donation made by Casey Subaru on the winner's behalf. The winner Finn and her owner Ashley can be seen in the photo alongside the GM Travis Wynn, the Shelter Manager Roger Iles, and Adoption Coordinator Krista Smith. As of this post, the beautiful terrier mix named Joker who is amazing with kids and other pets is available for adoption!

Adoption success at the Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter

Thanks to our partners at Casey Subaru, the Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter was able to host our 4th annual “Subaru Loves Pets” event on October 23, 2022. Sherry Grant, Marketing Director for Casey Subaru, went a step further with Casey Subaru donating an additional $1000 to cover adoptions for the day! With swag bags filled to the top with pet friendly goodies, good music and lots of pets looking for their forever homes, the day was bound to be a smashing success! Many citizens came in to meet and mingle with our adoptable animals and by the end of the event, the Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter and Casey Subaru were able to find 22 animals their forever homes! One of the pets that found her forever home was Kenzy, a 5-year-old Black Labrador Retriever mix. Kenzy was surrendered to the Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter when her owner’s found that they were lacking the time to properly care for her. We took Kenzy in and made it our mission to find her a new, forever home. While in our care, Kenzy began showing some medical issues. Upon further review of her owner surrender profile, staff learned that she’d had issues with urinary tract infections in the past. With this information, our vet team got right to work. Kenzy was x-rayed and the source of her ailment was immediately identified. Kenzy was suffering from a very large bladder stone! Surgery was quickly performed to remove the stone. The stone, once removed, weighed in at approximately 111 grams and was approximately 6cm x 5cm. Kenzy was closely monitored during her healing process and she came through like a champ! Kenzy made her way to the adoption floor on October 23, 2022 and it didn’t take long before her new family found her! Kenzy is settling in nicely with her new family; bonding and creating new memories every day! Thanks to partnerships like Casey Subaru and the Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter, animals find their forever homes every day! We thank Casey Subaru and all Subaru retailers for allowing us to participate in “Subaru Loves Pets” October 2022.

Subaru Loves Pets

On the weekend of National Make a Dog's Day, Casey Subaru was able to host another successful adoption event at the Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter. We sponsored 22 adoptions that day, helping 16 cats and 6 dogs find their furever home. Each adoptee also received a new pet care package from us.

Subaru Loves Learning!

Yesterday, Casey Subaru dropped off their Subaru Loves Learning campaign donation to Saunders Elementary School in Newport News, VA. Casey Subaru was able to provide planter boxes filled with school supplies from Subaru of America, Inc. to ten classes. In addition, 13 more boxes filled with thousands of items from backpacks to boxes of crayons were delivered to these smiling faces!

Casey Subaru is Awesome!

I ordered a car from them a couple months ago after deciding which options are right for my Forester. It took a while to come in but I understood. Our salesman, Caleb, kept us up to date throughout the entire process. The month my car was scheduled to arrive I had a scary unexpected problem. Somehow my retina became detached. By far the worst thing to happen to me in recent history. The day I had my surgery Caleb called us and told us our car was here. I was shocked! Due to my situation we had to wait a week or so to go pick up the car. The dealership and Caleb were both very understanding of the entire situation and were willing to hold the vehicle for us! We ended up completing the paperwork on the same day I had a follow up appointment with my doctor. Unfortunately, I couldn't drive my new car home that night due to my injury. Caleb and the entire staff were so nice and understanding! They were able to drive the car to my house! We plan on going on a trip to visit some family next month and we are very excited to take our new car! Thank you Casey Subaru, especially Caleb and the managers for helping me and getting me the exact Forester I wanted.

Casey Subaru has been a phenomenal sponsor and supporter for PRAS. This year has been a hard year for PRAS with the pandemic so when we have opportunities to have such big adoption promotions such as this year’s Make a Dogs Day Campaign our staff and volunteers get very excited. Loki pictured below was a longtime resident in our care. A misunderstood American pitbull terrier with a lot of energy and love to give. He was getting overlooked many times because his energy didn’t give him the best kennel presence. With MADD just around the corner and the excitement with the commercials and radio advertisements highlighting our amazing adoptable dogs our volunteers knew exactly what would put the ice cream on this event. Literally! I don’t know if Loki’s family would have come searching for him that day or would have felt so motivated to adopt if it wasn’t for the amazing support of Casey bringing awareness to shelter underdogs and without the willingness of our volunteers to showcase them. We are so thankful for Casey and their ability to support our shelter not only with amazing adoption promotions such as this but lives we are able to save medically through Share the Love. We are an open admission shelter, one of the largest in our area, and being able to give animals more medical support through this donation is really helping to share the love we have for our animals.

Casey Cares Medical Fund Saves PRAS Animals

Tinkerbell came to our shelter as a stray with severe injuries to her rear leg. Her original intake date was the middle of July and was not officially adopted until 10/07/2020. It is always sad when any dog comes in injured but especially one at such a young age that has not even had a chance to enjoy the finer things of puppyhood. Tinkerbell had to miss out on most of that as our team worked to get her the best medical care we could. A huge thanks to our local retailer Casey Subaru who we have a Casey Cares medical fund account that supported all of the financial burden for her care. This life saving partnership allowed us to take all the appropriate medical steps for Tinkerbell as we worked to try to save her leg. Ultimately the end result was amputation; however, Tinkerbell is more than satisfied with that. She is living it large with an amazing adopter who sends regular updates to her foster of how much fun Tinkerbell is having.

Toys for Tots!

During the month of November, Casey Subaru collected new, unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots. Thank you to everyone who donated and added toys to our Subaru Outback display in our showroom. Your donations will help provided new toys to families in need on the Peninsula this holiday season.

These warm blankets are sure to bring warmth to those in need in our community. Spreading joy and kindness will always bring a smile to someone face and we are proud to be the ones delivering it.

Going Above And Beyond

Travis, I want to thank you for helping us get in a Subaru Forester this weekend. The experience was very pleasant and resulted in making me a customer for life. Your sales team went to great lengths to make sure we understood prices, car features, and maintenance plans. After we had been looking for several hours and appeared to reach an impasse due to the orange trim in the Sport Model, the sales manager (Terry, I think) worked out a trade deal with a dealership in Virginia Beach to get a model and color scheme that did not offend the wife’s sense of style. Then Felix spent an hour and a half as he went over and picked it up. While we waited, another team member took me out to pick-up dinner. Even though the dealership was closed, Felix spent an hour getting the car ready and going through the software features of the new model and the staff stayed to complete the transaction. In the end, we got a fair trade for our 2014 Forester, had a coupon from corporate Subaru for our trouble, and left with a car that I am sure will provide us years of good service and a CVT backed by Casey for the life of the vehicle. We came in feeling frustrated like we had not gotten the expected value from our 2014 Subaru but left 7 hours later feeling happy and like we received a good deal for being loyal customers. Many thanks to all involved and congratulations on instilling the value of customer service up and down your team so deeply. Cheers! Bob & Betty Ann Galway

SUBARU/LLS BLANKETS AND WARMTH TO CANCER PATIENTS

Partnering with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), it is clear from the letters to patients to the full table set up you see from the moment you walk into Casey Subaru, the message is loud and clear that Subaru does, in fact, love to care. As true as this statement may be I don’t think the staff at Casey Subaru knew exactly what impact their caring was about to have. When you walk into Riverside Cancer Care Center you almost forget that it’s a place to go for treatment of a terrible disease. But upon entering the outpatient treatment floor you quickly see what is happening there on a daily basis. Almost everyone you see is hooked up to a machine and wearing warm clothes and a head covering. It may be the middle of July but inside you’d never know. We go into the room where a woman the staff calls “The Subaru Lady” is. She knows that LLS and Subaru have partnered but has no idea what to expect. All she mentions is how much she loves her Subaru. When Travis and Cam, our Subaru representatives, walked into The Subaru Lady’s room no one was prepared for the radiant joy that showed throughout her face. She was so excited and couldn’t believe that someone was taking the time to do such a thoughtful thing for her. Her giddy grin only grew as she read the card handwritten from a Subaru customer. To know that in that moment this woman wasn’t fighting for her life but enjoying a sweet gift from a stranger was just a beautiful moment to behold and one of the reasons that we are reminded every day that we are the ones in fact receiving gifts.

Casey Subaru Supporting the USO

Casey Subaru was proud to support the USO of Hampton Roads and Central Virginia through our Cookout For The Troops Event on Saturday the 21st. This event was held at Casey Subaru where military families were offered free food and beverages as a small gesture of our appreciation of their service and sacrifice. Others were asked to provide a small donation to enjoy a meal. For every test drive taken that day, Casey Subaru donated $25 to the USO. We were able to raise over $3,500 for the USO. Thank you to everyone who participated and made this event a success!

Valued Customer

"In my long experience, pledges of customer satisfaction are often empty and meaningless. Not so with Casey VW-Subaru...You've treated me like a valued customer, answered all of my questions with patience, and offered quality loaners when needed." He then went on to say, "a huge thanks to John (Reese) and the technicians for taking the problem as seriously as I did, and then fixing it. For me, it was the biggest test to date of a true commitment to customer satisfaction, and Casey passed with flying colors." This gentleman has been a loyal Casey Subaru customer for over two years now and would also like to thank Travis Wynn, Tish Perkins and Jeff Motley for treating him with the same respect and patience during other visits. Subaru and NWF Love the Earth!

We have taken one of our enclosed outdoor areas and turning into a schoolyard habitat. We have developed a bio-retention area where the water drains naturally to prevent flooding and control runoff. We have added a 3-rain barrel configuration that was built by our tech ed students. It will store rainwater to reduce runoff and the water will be recycled for the plants. We will be adding regional plants donated by grants from Casey Subaru and Countryside Gardens. Our goals is to incorporate local vegetation that will attract birds and butterflies during the school year and require minimal upkeep over the summers. We are very excited about the installation and can't wait to see what it becomes.
