The 2026 Subaru Outback Kicks Off the SUV’s Seventh Generation

2026 Subaru Outback

While some onlookers mistook previous iterations of the SUV for a wagon, there’s no mistaking the 2026 Subaru Outback for anything but a capable SUV. The all-new SUV is now taller, wider, and longer than ever before, and it’s also better equipped with sought-after amenities. To see when the highly anticipated Subaru Outback will arrive at our location, contact Casey Subaru.

Power and Performance

Although the SUV’s exterior is boxier than before, its engines have proven themselves through years of use and refinement. The vehicle’s base engine is a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder powerplant that produces 180 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. For more power, you’ll need to step up to a 2026 Subaru Outback XT or Subaru Outback Wilderness. Those trims rely on a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque for motivation.

Both engines pair nicely with a reliable continuously variable automatic transmission. Symmetrical AWD® is standard across the 2026 Subaru Outback lineup. With the right equipment, SUVs with the base engine can tow up to 2,700 lbs while vehicles with the turbocharged powerplant can tow as much as 3,500 lbs.

Technology Features

New Subaru SUVs are home to the latest technology features, which is great news for drivers who want state-of-the-art technology at their fingertips. The seventh-generation Subaru Outback introduces a 12.3-inch driver information display that offers selectable themes, such as Normal, Calm, and Navigation. To the right of that display, you’ll find a vertically oriented 12.1-inch infotainment touchscreen.

The Subaru Outback uses an Android™-based infotainment platform with wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ connectivity. A Wi-Fi® hotspot, navigation, and wireless charging are options you may want to consider.
