Your EV battery’s optimal range is between 20 and 80%, so avoid the extremes. Likewise, limit fast charging, as this too generates more heat. Instead, use slower charging options when you can, particularly during the hotter parts of the day.

Modify Your Driving

Your EV’s regenerative braking system helps to preserve range, but it works best with gradual, even stops. Speeding and having to brake quickly adds strain to the brakes and battery, and should be avoided. You should also clean out the clutter in your vehicle, as excess weight also hurts range and efficiency, and park somewhere cool or shady whenever possible to keep your vehicle and its battery pack cooler.
