How Subaru EyeSight® Features Enhance Your Drive
Subaru EyeSight® is a driver-assistance suite that is included in new Subaru models. We’re explaining how this technology enhances driver comfort, monitors traffic conditions, and improves your overall commuting experience. If you’d like to learn more, visit Casey Subaru.
EyeSight Explained
Modern Subaru models are equipped with a pair of cameras that constantly scan the road for potential hazards. Some models have a third camera that detects pedestrians and bicyclists. EyeSight is part of this sophisticated camera system that works in conjunction with several safety technologies. For instance, EyeSight can pair with the vehicle’s Adaptive Cruise Control function to keep you at the optimal following distance and prevent you from straying from your lane. Here are other EyeSight functions:
- Pre-collision braking scans for road dangers and sends an audible alert. If a collision is likely, automatic brakes are applied.
- Automatic Emergency Steering engages to help you maneuver around an obstruction if pre-collision braking isn’t enough to stop a collision.
- Pre-Collision Throttle Management can reduce engine power and slow the vehicle if EyeSight detects a hazard ahead. This gives you more time to react or minimize collision impact.
EyeSight Isn’t a Substitute for Alert Driving
While EyeSight is a significant safety booster, it’s in no way a substitute for safe driving practices. Always aggressively scan the road when behind the wheel, keep both hands on the wheel, and refrain from distractions like eating or using your phone.
