For over 30 years, if a driver wanted a vehicle for a great daily driver and one that was also adept at off-roading, the Subaru Outback has been a top choice. Now in its seventh generation, the 2026 Subaru Outback is as practical and as rugged as ever, but it does have some changes. Casey Subaru goes over the most notable additions.

New Exterior Design

While the Subaru Outback started as a wagon, the 2026 model now fully resembles an SUV, as it is more upright and its silhouette is boxier. Plus, with its larger upright grille, stacked headlight clusters, and pronounced wheel arches, it has a more muscular appearance. It also comes with thicker roof rails, which can support up to 800 pounds of static weight.

Extra Technology

Technology is another area in which the 2026 Subaru Outback sees improvements. Every model comes with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that is customizable and can include a map-focused display. A 12.1-inch infotainment system touchscreen is standard, as are wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™.

Improved Comfort and Convenience

Thanks to a roofline that’s two inches taller, the 2026 Subaru Outback now has an additional two feet of cubic feet for cargo. And if you plan to use your vehicle for long trips, you will appreciate the low-fatigue seats aimed at boosting comfort for extended excursions. Here’s something else you may like on longer trips: the doors now accommodate 32-ounce drink containers.
